the world (and the spanish embassy in Tokyo) is messed up
Posted in Japan on August 18th, 2010 by Miquel – 2 CommentsIt’s been almost 5 months since I to moved Tokyo, and since I registered last year at the Spanish embassy’s list of residents in Japan (when I renewed my passport) I though it would be good to update my address there too. That, and the fact that I saw Ale’s tweet/posterous/update/… on the invitations he received for an event at the embassy as a member of the list, which in my fantasies means “free wine/beer and jamon”!
Whatever! So I start calling yesterday morning to ask about what is their service time, if I need to go or not, if I can do it by fax/email, or else, but nobody answers the phone. More specifically, I call and choose to be attended in Spanish (you can choose also Japanese and English) and nobody answers.
That was all day yesterday and also this morning until around 2pm when I tried a new approach. What if I try choosing to be attended in Japanese? And voila! First try, and they answer me, I excuse my shity Japanese, and punch her in her face (virtually) about the fact that I had to choose Japanese because nobody was answering in Spanish (although it probably wasn’t her fault). And finally I got what I wanted, that is, to know that I can update my address data by email (we’ll talk about security another day).
